Tre Fontane Lodge is a One Star Lodge run by "AmaQhawe Tourism Services (Pty) Ltd" (the Class of '79 at the St Francis College), owned by the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood. We are also registered with TKZN (Tourism KwaZulu Natal).

Tre Fontane is situated in the inspiring setting of Mariannhill in Pinetown, Durban, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.

Mariannhill, founded in 1882, and is one of the largest mission centres in Southern Africa.

Tre Fontane was built in 1965 to offer accommodation for visitors and holiday makers. Tre Fontane also offers a fully equipped Conference Centre to Local and International Groups and Church Groups.

The Lodge is run by the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood, an international Congregation founded in 1885 at Mariannhill by Abbot Francis Pfanner.

Through their work and prayer the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood want to proclaim the redeeming Love of Jesus Christ to all people.

History of Mariannhill

Mariannhill ("Mary-Ann-Hill") was founded in 1882 by Francis Pfanner, a Trappist from Europe, who came to South Africa to bring the Good News to the people.

Tre Fontane (Three Fountains) is named after the Trappist Monastery in Rome, where Francis Pfanner (right) stayed for some time.

The Mariannhill Sisters follow the example of Abbot Francis Pfanner to care for the well-being and spiritual needs of all who seek rest and peace at Tre Fontane.
